It is massive or earthy. Color: ocher yellow, brown, red and gray. Bauxite composed of several minerals, particularly diaspore, gibbsite, boehmite and iron oxides. Bauxite will be aluminum, which is the metal, it is most of the world. Bauxite is the most easy-break of the substances containing aluminum. The largest concentrations are in Australia, West Africa and South America. Sweden has no Bauxite. It is usually found 5-20 feet below ground surface. The annual production in the mid 80's was about 87.5 million tonnes. Bauxite takes its name from the town of Les Baux in France.
