A boy called Carl Linnæus was born in May 1707, in a small village in Småland, Sweden. He got the first name Carl from the king. The second name Linnæus isn’t Swedish, it’s Latin.
Carl’s father Nils was a priest and formerly all priests needed to speak and write Latin.

Her parents were English, the father was rich, and they lived in Italy for a short period.
